The month of April is not to early to get your color/gardening going. Cooler weather will help get the root system established. We do recommend putting your creation in the garage, barn or other semi covered location to protect it on cold nights if necessary. We will gladly explain the process needed if necessary, just ask.
Two years ago we actually planted during the day with occasional snow flurries and our participants reported back that with the storage guidelines we suggested their projects made it safely through the cold to later flourish!
Remember your planters do not need to be traditional either. There are wonderful items that can be recycled into great planters! Old Boots can gladly house succulents. Metal cans, barrels and tool boxes with drilled holes also make great planters for heat resistant, drought tolerant plants.
